metronomia - a symphony (2019)

"An ageing man is drawn into the world of shopping television fitness equipment adverts."

The film was my first real step towards experimental documentary. In the film, I explored embodiment and its objectification through a docufictive narrative - themes that still fascinate me.

We took conscious risks in making the film. We shot it entirely with a VHS camera, which gave it a utopian, nostalgic and surreal aesthetic. The film serves as a memory of the 90's, a time when children grew up with the guidance of a shopping TV.

I also deal with my father's cancer in the film, which made it docufictive. My father is the main character in the film and I tried to build the film through his feelings as well; the desire to be strong, fit and able forever.
